Platinum Stairlifts needed a suitable power point for a new trash compactor. The existing power supply was approximately 50 metres from the required location, so a new supply was installed around the building perimeter.
Why the customer contacted us
The trash compactor supplier could not install the unit because there was no suitable power point close enough to it.
Work completed
- Installed a new SWA cable from the existing power supply to the trash compactor location.
- Installed a GEWISS GW66993 32A 3P+N+E 415V interlocked switched socket with RCD compartment, IP66.
- Installed metal tray as cable containment.
- Ran the cable around the building perimeter using fencing and walling.
- Built a Unistrut frame where no suitable mounting point was available.
- Used a whisker box to make the cable joint and terminations.
- Isolated the installation using a locking-off kit before carrying out the work.
Products installed
GEWISS GW66993 32A 3P+N+E 415V interlocked switched socket with RCD compartment, IP66. SWA cable, metal tray, a whisker box and a Unistrut mounting frame were also used.
Testing and certification
The installation was tested and a certificate was issued.
Problems encountered
No unexpected problems were encountered.

The new power supply was completed and working for the trash compactor.
