General

Are you NICEIC approved?

Yes. Helix Electrical is NICEIC approved. That means our work is assessed and we follow current standards and regulations.
If you need confirmation for landlords, homeowners, or commercial compliance, we can provide the relevant certification.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we’re fully insured. If you need insurance details for commercial sites or landlords, ask and we’ll provide them.

Do you cover domestic and commercial work?

Yes. We carry out domestic and commercial electrical work across Leeds and West Yorkshire, including fault finding,
installations, upgrades, testing, and compliance-related work.

Who will do the work — do you subcontract?

The work is carried out personally. You deal directly with the electrician doing the job, which keeps communication clear
and standards consistent.

Pricing, quotes & how we work

How do you price electrical work?

Pricing depends on the scope, access, materials, and how long the work is likely to take. For small jobs we may quote a fixed price.
For larger or investigative work (like fault finding or in-depth testing), we may price based on time, then confirm any remedial costs once
the issue is properly identified.

Do you offer free quotations?

For many straightforward jobs, yes. Where a job requires significant investigation, testing, reporting, or out-of-hours attendance,
there may be a charge — we’ll always explain this clearly in advance.

Will you give honest advice if work isn’t necessary?

Yes. If something doesn’t need doing, we’ll tell you. The aim is safe, compliant work — not selling you unnecessary extras.

Do you carry out emergency call-outs?

Depending on availability, yes. If you have an urgent issue, the fastest way is to call or WhatsApp us
with your location and a brief description.

Testing, certificates & compliance

Will I receive a certificate for electrical work?

Where applicable, yes. If work requires certification (for example certain new circuits or consumer unit changes),
we provide the appropriate documentation.

What is an EICR?

An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is an inspection and test of a property’s fixed wiring to assess condition and safety.
It highlights defects, safety issues, and recommended improvements.

Do landlords need an EICR?

In many cases, landlords are required to have a valid EICR for rental properties. If you’re a landlord or letting agent,
we can advise what’s required and complete the testing and reporting.

What happens if my installation fails an EICR?

You’ll receive a report showing observations and classifications. If remedial work is needed, we can quote to correct issues
and then re-test or provide the required certification once works are completed.

Do you do “in-depth testing” before quoting remedials?

Where the installation condition is unclear or faults are suspected, in-depth testing can be the best first step.
It avoids guessing, identifies issues properly, and allows remedial work to be planned accurately.

Domestic work

Do you upgrade consumer units (fuse boards)?

Yes. If your consumer unit is outdated or you’re having issues with protection, we can advise on upgrades and carry out replacement
where appropriate.

Do you install extra sockets, lighting, or upgrades?

Yes — additional sockets, lighting upgrades (including outdoor lighting), replacements, and improvements are all covered.

Will there be mess or disruption?

We work as cleanly and efficiently as possible. For intrusive work (like rewires), we’ll explain what to expect and how we minimise disruption.
For smaller jobs, disruption is usually minimal and we leave the area tidy.

Commercial work

Do you work on retail and live commercial sites?

Yes. We’re experienced working on active sites where safety, coordination, and compliance are essential.

Can you work out-of-hours or at weekends?

Where required and agreed in advance, yes. Out-of-hours or night work can be arranged depending on location and scope.
